"Moche" Produce Never Looked So Good (2): Imperfect Produce Subscription Boxes!
While the trend of selling "moche" produce in supermarkets is rapidly expanding, we still have a long way to go before imperfect produce is easily accessible to all. Thankfully, many companies are taking advantage of the new trend of food subscription boxes to solve this problem!
Over the past few years, boxes like Birchbox and Blue Apron have popularized subscription delivery services as easier ways to shop. In the food industry, the most popular boxes range from meal prep packages to monthly deliveries of experiential food (I used to LOVE receiving foods from different countries each month when I was younger.) Now its time for "moche" produce to take the delivery system by storm!
While these projects are still in their early stages, the future is bright for these innovative start-ups. Through companies such as Perfectly Imperfect in Ohio and Imperfect Produce in California, you can receive boxes of imperfect produce either weekly or bi-weekly along with recipes and tips. For our English friends, Oddbox started the same business in the U.K. after being inspired by our favorite Inglorious by Intermarché campaign!
With such a fantastic idea, these companies are rapidly expanding and are an easy way to reap the amazing benefits of "moche" produce (because after all, #uglytastesbetter!)
